Calling all teens! Hamilton Public Library is hosting some fantastic opportunities to get involved within the community.


Free Stratford Festival WorkshopsStratford Festival - May 2 to June 19

Set the stage with free Stratford Festival Workshops running from May 2 until June 19 at several HPL branches. Learn Dance and Movement, Stage Combat, Playwriting Techniques, and more.

One lucky randomly chosen winner will win one pair of tickets to attend a Stratford Festival 2024 season performance just by attending! Contest details available at program site.

Summer Reading Buddy Volunteers

The Summer Reading Buddies program is looking for reliable, patient, and trustworthy teensVolunteer Summer Reading Buddies between the ages of 14 and 18.

Summer Reading Buddies Volunteers help children who have finished Grades one through six to continue reading throughout the summer.

The program runs during July and August and encourages reluctant readers to enjoy reading through educational board games and activities.

If you are interested in volunteering for the 2024 Summer Reading Buddies program, complete the online volunteer application form before or on Friday, May 31, 2024.

Power of the Pen Contest 2024

Are you interested in creative writing? Hamilton Public Library has the perfect contest for you!Power of the Pen - May 1 to September 30

The Power of the Pen writing competition is celebrating 30 years! The contest encourages writers between the ages of 12 and 18 to submit original poetry and short stories. Participants can enter poems and short stories in English and French, and prizes are awarded to first and second place in seven age groups in poetry and short story categories.

The competition closes Monday, September 30, 2024. Digital submissions are encouraged.
