Retirement Celebration for 2019-20 and 2020-21 Cohorts
Dear HWDSB Retirees,
On November 18, 2019, HWDSB hosted its last retirement celebration before the COVID-19 pandemic. We have been hesitant to host virtual or drive-through events for our recent retirees, as it is an important milestone that deserves to be commemorated to the fullest extent. Our dedicated staff members have given us so much, and we want to ensure they know how grateful we are for their years of service.
We have not forgotten about our 2019-20 cohort that had its fall 2020 celebration postponed, and we also look forward to saluting our 2020-21 cohort of retirees.
HWDSB is excited to share that plans are underway to host a retirement celebration in fall 2021. The tentative date that has been reserved is November 22, 2021. Both the 2019-20 and 2020-21 cohorts will be recognized at this event.
- 2019-20 Cohort: Those who retired effective September 1, 2019 to August 31, 2020.
- 2020-21 Cohort: Those who retired effective September 1, 2020 to August 31, 2021.
Human Resources is currently compiling a contact list of recent retirees that will allow us to send email invitations and updates to those who will be recognized at this event. These communications, which will be sent out in the coming weeks and months, will include registration details, gift selections and more.

Those who retire in September 2021 to August 31, 2022 will have their retirement event in November 2022. HWDSB will also hold a 25-year celebration for two staff cohorts from last year and this year in spring 2022. Final plans for both of these events will be confirmed at a later date and shared with staff members who are looking to attend.
Congratulations to all of our recent retirees and 25-year staff members! We look forward to celebrating with you over the course of the next year.
