Psychology Month – February 2024
The dedicated members of HWDSB’s Psychological Services team play a crucial role in our schools. Their commitment and invaluable expertise empowers students to reach their fullest potential and helps shape their futures. We are happy to celebrate and honour them during Psychology Month each February.
Psychoeducational consultants are uniquely qualified to conduct thorough psychoeducational assessments that provide insights about learning profiles and guide program planning. Their evidence-based information on childhood and adolescent development helps school staff explore factors that impact students’ academic progress.
Psychological assessments help staff understand students’ cognitive, behavioural and socio-emotional needs. The process of consultation, data gathering, psychological assessment and analysis helps psychological consultants share information about students that will enhance classroom practices and program planning, and ultimately impact students’ learning and well-being.
We often hear from students and families about the power of understanding their personal learning profile, which can improve self-esteem and self-advocacy, while leading to positive socio-emotional outcomes.
