Here’s How Pink Shirt Day Was Celebrated Across HWDSB
Pink Shirt (or Anti-Bullying) Day is recognized annually in communities across Canada as schools and workplaces come together by wearing pink shirts to show they are against bullying.
We encouraged students, staff, and families to share their involvement on social media by tagging us and using the #PinkShirtDay hashtag. There were countless examples of participation and we are proud of the HWDSB community for its effort. Celebrating Pink Shirt Day during a pandemic can be challenging, but you still found a safe way to do so.
Here are some posts from the February 24 initiative:
@HWDSB I tried to do a cute picture for #PinkShirtDay2021 but Millie and Simon just want to play. This is as good as it gets. If we are wearing a pink shirt today, let’s model our commitment with actions. Treat others with kindness every day. It makes the world better❣️ pic.twitter.com/ia9xbWJfoA

We had a fantastic day with our kinders today learning about kindness, what bullying is and why we wear pink today. In our small groups, our S’s were the teachers and created word problems for their classmates using manipulatives. Love it! ❤️@HWDSB_Climate #PinkShirtDay2021 pic.twitter.com/ZlpcBphjIV

Today on Pink Shirt Day we talked about our experiences with bullying and how we can all be brave by being an upstander. They asked me to share their poems and digital art in hopes that the message of being brave can be heard! Grade 5’s…you make me proud! #PinkShirtDay @HWDSB pic.twitter.com/1p6ddUEaQq

Great #PinkShirtDay2021 in our class today. We created our own shirts and discussed bullying, being kind and acceptance. When talking about bystanders one Smart SK student said he would say would it hurt you if you were hit…then why are you being mean.❤ @HWDSB @mmpanju pic.twitter.com/3GTlUTVu4o

A few missing but we had a great time learning about Pink Shirt Day. We created a safe community in our class and took some silly pictures for memories.
