HWDSB Seeks Input on French Immersion

HWDSB_logo_RGBHamilton‐Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) is inviting public input on the French Immersion Location Strategy and Application Process.

For years, HWDSB has offered non-French speaking students an optional French Immersion program, recognizing French as one of Canada’s two official languages and a widely used international language. HWDSB will continue to provide quality programs to develop students’ ability to communicate in French.

“French Immersion is a very popular program at HWDSB and – to be equitable – we want to ensure that all interested students can access it,” said Executive Superintendent Peter Joshua.

In response to accommodation challenges in recent years, a location strategy and application process are necessary to ensure that all interested students are placed in French Immersion programs.

Feedback can be provided online.

Public consultation is an important piece of HWDSB’s commitment to accountability. The Board of Trustees relies on feedback from parents/guardians/caregivers, staff, students and the broader community so they can make well-informed decisions that result in positive outcomes for students.

The survey is voluntary, anonymous and responses will only be reported back in general format. While we encourage you to respond to the online survey, comments may also be sent by Canada Post to:

Hamilton‐Wentworth District School Board
P.O. Box 2558
Hamilton, ONL8N 3L1
Attention: Research Officer (E‐BEST)

The deadline to provide comments is Wednesday October 26, 2016, at 4 p.m. Responses sent by email or Canada Post must be received by the above‐stated date.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this invitation to provide feedback, please contact Executive Superintendent Peter Joshua at 905‐527‐5092 ext. 2624 or [email protected].
