Hamilton Black History Council Receiving Applications for 28th Reverend John C Holland Awards

Hamilton Black History Council is seeking applications from students of Caribbean and African Hamilton Black History Council (HBHC) is pleased to announce that the 2024 call for applications is now open. Please see the attached flyer and share it widely with your school community. Award eligibility and descriptions, as well as the online application form are available on our website at https://www.johnhollandawards.com/applications/. The deadline to apply is January 24, 2024, at 11:59 pm. descent for the 28th Reverend John C Holland Awards. Winning students will receive a scholarship or bursary up to $1,500.

Since 1996, the Reverend John C Holland Awards has recognized and celebrated the educational, extra curricular, and community achievements of Black youth in the Hamilton area. The awards are hosted annually by the Hamilton Black History Council and have provided over 300 scholarships and awards.

Students are asked to provide a school transcript, a letter of recommendation, and a personal statement outlining their experiences, goals, and achievements to be considered for an award. The deadline for applications is Wednesday, January 24 at 11:59 p.m.

Successful applicants will be announced at an awards ceremony on Saturday, February 24. Good luck to all HWDSB students who choose to apply!
