Family Literacy Day: Celebrating 25 Years with HWDSB and Sora

HWDSB is proud to celebrate the 25th annual Family Literacy Day on January 27! Let''s have a family party!

Family Literacy Day is recognized every year as a day to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. This special day is a reminder of how crucial it is to share moments with books and other literacy activities every day to shape children’s growth.

This year, the theme “Let’s Have a Family Party!”, HWDSB encourages its families to explore fun and creative activities that everyone can enjoy and learn from.

To help families explore the endless and fun possibilities for learning, HWDSB is excited to introduce Sora – an award-winning digital reading platform available to all students.

Sora allows students to discover eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, and more from their school library. The System Learning Commons provides access to the Sora platform for all HWDSB students, accessible through the HWDSB System Learning Commons Hub course. All you need to access is your board email and password.
