Diplôme d’études en langue française (DELF) in 2020 and for 2020 graduates

May 11, 2021 Update: June 2021 DELF Examination Cancellation

Due to the global pandemic and the shift to remote learning in April 2021, the Board is unable to offer the DELF examination originally scheduled for June 2021.


The Diplôme d’études en langue française (DELF) is an official international diploma awarded by the French Ministry of Education recognizing the CEFR level of proficiency of candidates for whom French is a second language. It is based on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), which defines language proficiency along six global levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2.

DELF for Grade 12 Students

In 2021, HWDSB is getting organized to run the DELF examination for Grade 12 students. Logistics for the DELF will be carefully planned and will be in accordance with COVID 19 health and safety protocols. Current HWDSB Students enrolled in a Grade 12 French course from September 2020 – June 2021 will be eligible to present for the DELF examination.

DELF Examination Dates for students

  • A2- June 9, 2021
  • B1- June 8, 2021
  • B2- June 7, 2021

Current HWDSB students are asked to fill out this form by March 29, 2021 to express their interest in participating in the DELF examination in June 2021.

Students need to connect with their French teacher for more information.

DELF for 2020 Graduates

Due to the global pandemic and school closures in 2020, the HWDSB was unable to offer the DELF examination last year.

HWDSB is not able to offer the DELF examination to 2020 graduates. If students would like to seek out the opportunity, they can do so through Alliance Française Toronto.
