Chair’s Statement on Expanded Ontario Testing Strategy
Ontario News Release: Government Takes Further Action to Protect Schools
Statement from Dawn Danko, Chair of the Board:
“As we work to keep schools open, we welcome today’s announcement regarding the Government of Ontario’s enhanced testing strategy.
We will continue to work closely with Hamilton Public Health Services to maintain a layered approach to COVID-19 prevention. We will share local details of expanded testing options when they are available for our school communities.
We know how important it is for students and staff to remain in school. We believe that students are more supported when they are learning in person with their peers.
We also know that access to COVID-19 testing can be a challenge for families. Making PCR test kits available to students can support appropriate testing, an important step that reduces the risk of COVID-19 entering our schools.
As a school system, we continue to support public health efforts and advocate for every measure possible to keep our students and staff healthy and safe.”
