Students Showcase Trade Skills in Board Competition

On April 1, students from across the board competed against each other in three disciplines at three locations as part of the HWDSB Skills Competition: Small engines (Dundas Valley), Transportation (Ancaster High) and Construction (Mohawk College).

To make the day possible, Princess Auto donated engines, Home Depot donated supplies and DeWalt donated tools.

Students demonstrated skills acquired at their respective schools. The day involved reading blueprints, doing real-world math, measuring accurately, collaborating, sharing success and reflection on future career options. Enjoy some media coverage of the day here.

Top finishers move on to the Provincial Skills competition held at Rim Park in Waterloo in May. See results below.

Thanks to Saltfleet’s CommTech program and photographer/videographer Emilee Kuzler for images of the day.
