Thank You and Congratulations from HWDSB

On behalf of HWDSB’s Board of Trustees and Executive Council, we want to thank students, staff, families and community members for a memorable 2023-24 school year as we mark this final week.

To the students of HWDSB, watching your JOY in classrooms and schools has been so inspiring. We hope you have a safe and fun summer break after the past ten months of learning, leading and laughing.

HWDSB classrooms, schools and workplaces would not be the special spaces they are without the many dedicated staff members conducting their work with DIGNITY. We appreciate your commitment to student achievement and well-being as we celebrate the successes of another year.

We appreciate the TRUST from families as you supported your children along their educational journeys. As we prepare for the next school year, we look forward to warmly welcoming you and your children back to HWDSB schools in September 2024.

To the community partners of HWDSB, your COMPASSION for the students and families of Hamilton has never been more evident. We are grateful for your contributions and commitments as we close the first school year with our 2023-2028 Multi-Year Strategic Plan (MYSP) in place.

Our MYSP features five Pillars: Upholding Human Rights, Safety & Well-Being, Providing Equitable Quality Education, Collaborating with Students, Families & Communities, Building a Sustainable Education System and Reinforcing Indigenous Educational Wellness & Reconciliation. These Pillars inspired our 2023-24 Board Improvement Plan that will be revisited annually.

In 2024-25, we look forward to updating our Board Improvement Plan with new and dynamic methods to help improve literacy, numeracy, preparedness, well-being and engagement experiences for every student. We encourage you to visit Engage HWDSB where you can share feedback on steps we have already taken and provide thoughts on future methods for improvement.

When we say farewell to the school year, commencing students from elementary and secondary schools say some meaningful farewells of their own. We want to close our message by wishing the best to Grade 8 and Grade 12 students who are progressing to future stages in their educational, career and personal journeys.

As you celebrate these momentous occasions, we encourage you to reflect on these important chapters in your lives: the friendships you have made, the challenges you have overcome and the dreams you have yet to achieve. Wherever your path may lead, we want you to know that we are so proud of you all and look forward to your future triumphs.

Congratulations to the Class of 2024! As you move to your next steps, remember: Be You. Be Excellent.

Thank you, again, to the students, staff, families and community members of HWDSB for a successful 2023-24 school year. We hope you all have happy and healthy summer months and look forward to greeting you again before the first day of the 2024-25 school year on Tuesday, September 3.
