Delta Secondary School’s bocce team won the bronze medal with a 13-1 victory over Ajax’s Richardson Collegiate at last week’s Special Olympics Provincial School Championships in Oshawa.
Ali Currie, Brusco Armstrong and Andrew Murphy’s accurate throws dominated play for Delta, which had gone undefeated in round-robin play before losing a tough semifinal match to Stamford Collegiate 6-4, setting up the bronze medal game against Richardson.
Delta coach Grant Darby said, “I am extremely proud of not only their achievement, but also their sportsmanship on and off the field.”
Six hundred students and 200 coaches took part in the three-day event.
