Response to France church attack

The following is a statement from Manny Figueiredo, Director of Education in response to the tragic event that took place in Nice, France on October 29, 2020.

“This morning, we learned the sad news about a horrific attack in a church that has killed at least three people in Nice, France.

We offer our condolences after this tragic event. Our thoughts are with the loved ones who are mourning family, friends and colleagues.

As a learning institution, we speak out when violence occurs in a sacred place of worship. We believe it is important to stand together as one community, as we continue to denounce these acts of violence and hate.

We stand with those who seek peace, freedom and the right to practice their religion of choice. No one should live or worship in fear.

We can demonstrate our ability to help through acts of kindness and compassion. Tragedy must not weaken our hope for a better world; it must unite us in our care for one another.”

Tips on how to support students after tragic events are available for parents to reference.
