Hamilton Black History Council Receiving Applications for 27th Reverend John C Holland Awards

Hamilton Black History Council is seeking applications from students of Caribbean and African descent for the 27th Reverend John C Holland Awards. Winning students will receive a scholarship or bursary up to $1,500.

Since 1996, the Reverend John C Holland Awards has recognized and celebrated the educational, extra curricular, and community achievements of Black youth in the Hamilton area. The awards are hosted annually by the Hamilton Black History Council and have provided over 300 scholarships and awards.

Students are asked to provide a school transcript, a letter of recommendation, and a personal statement outlining their experiences, goals, and achievements to be considered for an award. The deadline for applications is December 22, 2022, at 11:59 p.m.

Successful applicants will be announced at an awards ceremony on February 4, 2023. Good luck to all HWDSB students who choose to apply!
