Message Ahead of International Day of Persons with Disabilities – December 3, 2022

UN Graphic for 2022 event. The United Nations started the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in 1992.HWDSB is excited to share its first-ever family message for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, held on December 3 each year.

The United Nations started the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in 1992 as a day to help everyone become aware of the challenges faced by people with disabilities and to recognize the benefits of including people with disabilities in everyday life.

All HWDSB schools will receive posters to display for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. We are encouraging schools to mark the occasion on Friday, December 2 or Monday, December 5, 2022.

We are also sharing resources with staff to help school communities learn about disability so that all students with a disability are included and feel appreciated in our schools and the community.

Thank you for helping us recognize this important day as we build a culture of inclusion for all students with disabilities at HWDSB.

Sincerely,

Peggy Blair
Superintendent of Specialized Services
