HWDSB and the Hamilton Wentworth Occasional Teacher Local Announce a Tentative Agreement
October 28, 2024 (Hamilton, ON): The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) and the Hamilton Wentworth Occasional Teacher Local (HWOTL) have announced a tentative local agreement.
“We are extremely pleased to reach a local tentative agreement with HWOTL,” said Maria Felix Miller, Chair of HWDSB’s Board of Trustees and Ward 3 Trustee. “These educators provide crucial services in our board, and help ensure that students have consistent, reliable, and high-quality educational experiences each and every day.”
At HWDSB, employees who are part of HWOTL include daily occasional teachers and long-term occasional teachers.
“Reaching this tentative agreement with HWDSB represents another positive step forward in recognizing the critical and precarious nature of being an Occasional Teacher”, said HWOTL Chief Negotiator, Tammy Clark, and Local President Barry Naidoo. “This tentative agreement recognizes the hard work they do.”
The details of the tentative agreement remain confidential until ratified by the Board and the HWOTL membership.
