Guy Brown Raises the Bar with Jump Rope for Heart Total

guy brownThe Heart and Stroke Foundation has recognized Guy Brown Elementary School on their exceptional fundraising efforts this year for Jump Rope for Heart.

The school has always been successful in the 30-plus years they’ve participated in the program but this year the school community really ‘put their hearts into it’ and raised an outstanding total of $20,057.62! That’s over $12,000 more than last year!

While Heart and Stroke appreciated anything schools can raise, they note that Guy Brown went above and beyond!

We would like to bring special recognition to phys-ed teacher Bert Neale for putting forth a tremendous effort while co-ordinating the event. The students were successful in collecting donations from family and friends.

The school also raised funds by having students donate to participate in a competitive obstacle course run by the school’s designated Heart Hero Captains, a group of intermediate students who took on a leadership role with the event. Photos will appear on the Jump Rope for Heart national website next year.

Supporting kids’ health for 34 years, Jump Rope for Heart encourages kids to be heart healthy while they collect pledges for heart disease and stroke research. The program delivers fun and accessible activities with information that encourages healthy eating, daily physical activity and giving back to the community.
