Elementary Transition Update, January 27, 2022

All requests from elementary families to transition to full-time remote learning received by the January 20, 2022 deadline have been reviewed and processed. This survey is now closed.

A transition to a remote learning classroom requires a change in school registration to the school that hosts a remote learning classroom for specific grades. This change will be in effect for the remainder of the school year, and students will return to their home schools when they return to in-person learning in September 2022.

Please see below for details on remote classes and progress report distribution.

Kindergarten to Grade 6 Students

Students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 who have requested a transition will be added to existing remote learning classrooms, where there is current capacity to accept new students.

Transitions for Kindergarten to Grade 6 students will occur between Monday, January 31 and Friday, February 4. The specific date of transition will depend on the grade and the school hosting the remote class. All students will be contacted by their new host school by Friday, February 4.

Grade 7 and 8 Students

In order to meet the number of remote transition requests for Grades 7 and 8 students, an additional remote learning class will need to be added to the remote learning program. Additional staff will be hired to support this new class.

Transitions for Grade 7 and 8 students will occur between Monday, February 7 and Friday, February 11. The specific date of the transition will depend on the grade and school hosting the remote class. All students will be contacted by their new host school by Friday, February 11.

Report Card Distribution

To accommodate family requests for remote learning, there will be some differences in report card distribution this term. Students will not receive progress reports from their new remote learning teachers as they will have just joined this class. Instead, progress reports will be completed by the students’ original in-person teacher from their home school and will be made available after February 18. Please contact your child’s home school to arrange for a copy of their report card. The final report card in June will be completed by the remote learning teacher and will be sent electronically.
