Return to Remote Learning at HWDSB – Week One Highlights
The first week is officially in the books! The HWDSB community shifted to remote learning following the winter break and we have seen some great examples of how classrooms are adapting.
Here are ten of our favourite moments:
A video game-inspired math lesson
A HUGE success on a Monday morning! In 5N, we played an “Among Us” inspired math game. Students worked together to choose the “impostor” in each set of expressions. If anyone would like a copy of my slideshow, I would love to share @HWDSB @HWDSBmath #remotelearning #sus pic.twitter.com/dL1qOr6Q1j

A quick relocation when the Internet goes down
Nothing like a little unexpected … 🙂 When the wifi goes out during remote learning and you don’t have a Smart phone, you relocate to your car&a local school parking lot. Thanks @BishopKeery for hosting this Internet orphan. 🙂 My car setting made for a good conversation point. pic.twitter.com/NelmlaDIfj

A group of young coders
To say my class LOVES coding is an absolute understatement Yesterday they asked if I could send them their own copy of my mazes. I am so thrilled with their engagement and success. Next week we take it up a notch @HWDSB @HWDSBLearning pic.twitter.com/aNAQBtgG0x

A fitting Friday sendoff
Mr. C & I want to give a high five to all the educators, parents and children for their amazing work with the transition to remote learning this week. It’s new, it’s challenging, it’s different, but you did it! ❤️ Enjoy your weekend! @HWDSB @remotelearning @puppetshowday pic.twitter.com/txzhKcKahU

We want to thank each member of our HWDSB community as we embark on the second week of the remote learning period. Our students, staff, and families have displayed a great deal of patience and understanding. We will continue to work together to ensure that this stretch of the school year calendar runs smoothly and look forward to the day that we can safely return to in-person learning.
