Chair, Vice-Chair Re-elected to Turn New HWDSB Vision into Action
The Board of Trustees at Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board have re-elected Chair Todd White and Vice-Chair Jeff Beattie to lead the implementation of the new HWDSB vision.
At the annual initial Board Meeting on Dec. 5, 2016, fellow Trustees gave the Chair and Vice-Chair a renewed mandate to move ahead with the next step of HWDSB’s Reimagine initiative.
This fall, HWDSB launched a student-developed tagline Curiosity, Creativity, Possibility as well as five strategic priorities: Positive Culture and Well-being; Student Learning and Achievement; Effective Communication; School Renewal; and Partnerships.
“I’m proud to continue leading the vision that we’ve created. We’ve got high expectations for our Board and I’m confident that the clear, targeted goals we’ve outlined will result in a stronger HWDSB,” said Chair White, a Ward 5 Trustee. “We’re on the cusp of change and now we are turning our words into action.”
Chair White, 32, is serving his second term as Trustee for the East City. He has served on many Board-mandated and community committees. He is a new father who dedicates his free time to many Ward 5 community groups.
Trustees also re-elected Wards 9 and 10 Trustee Jeff Beattie as Board Vice-Chair. Beattie is in his first term as a Trustee for Upper and Lower Stoney Creek.
“Our Board is renewed and ready to act,” Vice-Chair Beattie said. “Thanks to our new focus and vision, we are energized to make a positive difference for students, staff, parents and community partners.”
The offices of Chair and Vice-Chair are held for one year terms.
