New Nora Frances Henderson High School One Step Closer to Construction

Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) has received Site Plan Approval from the City of Hamilton for the construction of the new Nora Frances Henderson Secondary School. The Site Plan Approval allows the project to move forward.

“We are very pleased to have received Site Plan Approval from our partners at the City,” said HWDSB Chair Todd White. “This has been a five-year wait for the students and families at Nora Frances Henderson and we are excited to reward their patience with a brand new high school that meets students learning needs.”

With the Site Plan Approval confirmed, HWDSB has begun the process of requesting tender bids from construction companies to contract the construction.

In May 2012, HWDSB Trustees approved the closure of Barton, Hill Park and Mountain secondary schools and the construction of a new high school on the southeast mountain.

The new Nora Frances Henderson Secondary School will be located southwest of the intersection of Rymal and Upper Sherman. The school will accommodate 1,250 students from Grade 9 to Grade 12 in an approximately 166,000 square foot three-storey secondary school.
