Education & Cognition Public Lecture
Thursday, July 26 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
The Hamilton community is invited to a FREE public lecture as part of the annual McMaster Symposium on Education & Cognition. This year McMaster University welcomes Mike Atkinson, Ph.D, from Western University as he discusses strategies to engage students in the classroom. Dr. Atkinson's talk, Engaging Students in Large Classes with Active Learning, will discuss the techniques he employs to engage students. These techniques include establishing an environment that is lively with a fast-paced delivery that maintains attention, creates rapport, and challenges students to think about issues. In his presentation, Dr. Atkinson will model some of these techniques and then invite the audience to think about how to use these in their own classrooms.
