Take Our Kids to Work Day 2021

Each year, Grade 9 students across Canada take part in Take Our Kids to Work Day to explore potential careers. On Wednesday, November 3, 2021, HWDSB students will participate virtually through various opportunities supported by The Learning Partnership.

Potential activities through The Learning Partnership’s Take Our Kids to Work initiative include:

  • Hosting a successful virtual day to engage students and employees
  • Bringing the workplace to the classroom through lesson plans and activities developed by The Learning Partnership
  • Providing information to parents/guardians and students about virtual events for a day of fun and career exploration

It is important to note that if a parent/guardian wishes to have their child attend work, they can still do so. However, it is not the direction of HWDSB at this time. Students will need to follow the public health and vaccination procedures at the work site if they choose to attend.

In addition to The Learning Partnership, Grade 9 students can continue to explore career opportunities through other virtual resources. Here are some of the tools and platforms that classroom educators will be sharing with students:

  1. Xello
  2. Edge Factor
  3. Jobs People Do
  4. Experiential Learning Hub Course

We look forward to supporting our Grade 9 students as they learn about the wide range of jobs and careers that are available to them. Please contact your school or school Principal with any Take Our Kids to Work Day questions.
