Speech and Hearing Awareness Month 2024

Each year, Speech-Language and Audiology Canada dedicates the month of May to Speech and Speech and Hearing Month Hearing Awareness Month. The month serves as a reminder of the essential work done by Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and Communicative Disorders Assistants (CDAs), and gives us the opportunity to celebrate their dedication to helping students communicate and engage in learning.

The work of SLPs and CDAs play a crucial role in ensuring that all students have the support they need to succeed. Whether it is helping students improve their speech, providing strategies for language development, or assisting with hearing challenges, their impact is immeasurable.

On behalf of the entire HWDSB community, I want to express our deepest gratitude for your passion in supporting students. Your commitment to students’ communication health is truly inspiring, and we are fortunate to have such dedicated professionals as part of our team.

As we celebrate Speech and Hearing Awareness Month, let us take this opportunity to thank these outstanding individuals for the difference they make in the lives of students every day.

Thank you for all that you do.

Sincerely,

Sheryl Robinson Petrazzini
