Return to Remote Learning at HWDSB – Week Three Highlights
Welcome to the final week of January 2021! It has now been over one month since the shift to remote learning was announced. Judging by social media activity, it seems like students, families, and staff members are becoming more and more comfortable with the arrangement. We continue to see wonderful remote learning posts and love sharing them with the community.
Here are ten highlights from week three:
Step by step how to draw a barn with Mario was a big hit with our students! Prior to our art lesson, we showed photos of old barns and what they were/are used for, including a silo! They also learned about the important role of a Farmer through a read aloud. @HWDSB #community pic.twitter.com/OHuBGfhmfL

Here in gr 1, we have been using our procedural writing skills to recreate & share our favourite healthy meals & snacks. Ss needed to write their steps first then create. I love it when my Ss take pictures & share their experiences with me! #remotelearning @HWDSB @HWDSBLearning pic.twitter.com/rsmfGPp9pU

One of my favourite additions to my weekly schedule, Fun Friday! My student get so excited trying to guess what episode we will watch. We have been talking about snow this week so learning about weather was a perfect fit. Students drew themselves caught in a storm! @HWDSB pic.twitter.com/E7VC4a4H2B

After reading “The Great Kapok Tree” in Science. Grade 1’s passionately objected to deforestation and habitat loss. We explored media types and explored different ways to share our thoughts and ideas. They created these posters to educate. Rock Stars! #proudteacher @HWDSB pic.twitter.com/Gacy6AiJBl
