Prom Project Hamilton returns this weekend to HWDSB

Hamilton, Ontario – April 3, 2025: Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) students will be getting ready for prom season as Prom Project Hamilton returns for its’ 11th year on April 5 at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School.

“Prom Project is about much more than just outfits,” said Sheryl Robinson Petrazzini, Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board’s Director of Education. “It’s about the opportunity to provide students with confidence, joy and excitement to be able to feel their best as they experience this significant milestone.”

Prom Project is a pop-up shop style event that provides students from across Hamilton the opportunity to pick out formal wear for proms, Commencement, banquets, and other special events, free of charge.

“We are thrilled to have this great event return for our students,” said Trustee Amanda Fehrman. “Thank you to everyone for coming together to make this day happen, helping students feel proud and stylish on their special day.”

Students will be able to choose one complete outfit from a huge selection of new, gently used, upcycled, and vintage formal wear. Outfits can be fit to form by an on-site alternations team.

“Thanks to all the wonderful donations received, we have a wide variety of gowns, suits, dress shirts, vests, dress pants, formal dresses and accessories ready for students to try on,” said Amy Leaming Cote, Executive Director, Hamilton Foundation for Student Success. “And special thanks to all our volunteers, without whom this event would not be possible.”

Students must register for an appointment time and are welcome to bring a guest. There is a limit of one guest per student.

Students are welcome by appointment to shop and upcycle on April 5 at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School, 1715 Main St E, Hamilton, from 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information and to register, please visit https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/blog/prom-project-hamilton-registration-now-open-2/.
