HWDSB Students Bring Home the Hardware at 2021 Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair
11 Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board students “virtually” walked away from a recent science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) competition with some serious honours.
The Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair (BASEF) is a competition for all Grade 7 to 12 students from Hamilton, Halton Region, Haldimand County, Norfolk County, County of Brant, and Six Nations. Students began the process of registering their projects in early February before having them submitted and judged over the course of March.
The virtual awards ceremony for BASEF’s 61st edition was held on April 8, 2021. Over 60 sponsors and charitable donors, along with 47 Special Award donors, offered cash prizes, awards, and scholarships totalling over $150,000. Many student participants will now go on to compete in the Canada-Wide Science Fair and the International Science and Engineering Fair.
