HWDSB Sees Continued Gains in 2024–2025 EQAO Results
Dear HWDSB Families and Community Members,
We are pleased to share some very encouraging news—our 2024–2025 EQAO results show continued gains across multiple grades. These improvements reflect the dedication of our staff and the resilience and hard work of our students, as well as the support of families and caregivers across Hamilton.
Across the system, students demonstrated measurable growth compared to last year, with notable improvements in Grade 3 and 6 Reading and Writing, Grade 6 Math, Grade 9 Math, and the Grade 10 OSSLT. These results reflect strong, evidence-informed instruction and the supportive, inclusive environments we work to create, aligned with our Board Improvement Plan.
2024–2025 EQAO Highlights:
Grade 3: Reading 70% (+3%), Writing 59% (–1%), Math 54% (+3%)
Grade 6: Reading 81% (+6%), Writing 80% (+8%), Math 41% (+4%)
Grade 9: Math 50% (+2%)
Grade 10: OSSLT 82% (+5%)
We are seeing our Multi-Year Strategic Plan and Board Improvement Plan taking root across HWDSB—including ongoing work in Human Rights and Indigenous Education. Most importantly, we celebrate our students, and we hope they see themselves in these results and feel proud of their accomplishments.
