Celebrating PRIDE at HWDSB

Dear HWDSB Community,

At Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB), we proudly raise the PRIDE flag as a symbol of inclusion, visibility, and love.

This moment is more than a celebration — it is a commitment to our LGBTQIA+ and Two Spirit students, staff, families, allies and communities.

We recognize the courage and resilience it has taken — and continues to take — to live authentically in a world where discrimination and exclusion still exist. We also recognize the profound beauty, strength, and joy that lives within the community.

As we reflect on PRIDE, we are guided by HWDSB’s core values: dignity, trust, compassion, and joy. These are not just words — they are the foundation for how we learn, lead, and support one another.

To the LGBTQIA+ and Two-Spirit students, staff, families and communities:

You are welcome here.
You belong here.
You make us better.

Our schools, classrooms, and communities are enriched by the gifts, talents, perspectives, and joy you bring each and every day.

This PRIDE season — and every day — we reaffirm our commitment to safe, inclusive, and affirming spaces where every individual is seen, heard, and celebrated for who they are.

Together, we continue to learn, grow, and move forward in PRIDE.
