Update from HWDSB – Hamilton Street Railway Labour Action
Dear HWDSB families,
As we shared yesterday, Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) operated by the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 107 may strike as of Thursday, November 9.
Because it is unknown how long the potential service disruption may last, we encourage you to find alternative transportation arrangements for your child(ren) if they use HSR to travel to and from school.
We understand that HSR disruptions may impact some HWDSB families who routinely use this service. Students who receive HSR passes directly from HWDSB have received a separate communication.
We are proactively accounting for impacted students to potentially face delays when arriving at their specific school or learning spaces. Please follow appropriate sign-in and sign-out procedures if you anticipate that your child(ren) may experience late arrival and/or early departure times from school.
Please also note that the strike may cause increased congestion and traffic volume during pick-up and drop-off times. We encourage all HWDSB families to practice patience and compassion as we work together to navigate this challenging situation.
For up-to-date information regarding the HSR strike, please continue to visit the City of Hamilton’s website.
We are hopeful for an expedited resolution that is mutually beneficial and agreeable to both parties.
We appreciate your ongoing patience and understanding.
Kind regards,
Sheryl Robinson Petrazzini
