Take Our Kids to Work Day 2023 – November 1
Take Our Kids to Work is Canada’s most recognized career exploration event, with a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. For more than 25 years, Grade 9 students across Canada have participated in Take Our Kids to Work Day to explore potential careers.
On November 1, 2023, Grade 9 students are welcome to participate in an observational job-shadowing experience at the workplace of a family member, friend or other trusted adult. Schools will also intentionally take time to engage all Grade 9 students in learning related to careers and pathways.
Additional information regarding Take Our Kids to Work Day can be found on The Students Commission of Canada website, the new organization taking over this Canada-wide initiative.
Pathways and Career/Life Planning
November 1 is an opportunity to engage all students in their post-secondary aspirations and allow them to make connections with school programming. The goals of the education and career/life planning are to:
- Ensure that all students develop the knowledge and skills they need to make informed education and career/life choices.
- Provide classroom and school-wide opportunities for this learning.
- Engage parents and the broader community in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the program, to support students in their learning.
