On Thursday, April 7, young artists from across Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) will take the virtual stage at Showcase of heARTS 2022. Hundreds of elementary and secondary students and staff have collaborated for this online celebration of the Arts at HWDSB. For many of the musicians, dancers, actors, and artists, this will be one of their first major performances since the pandemic put a pause on various concerts and recitals.

Showcase of heARTS, which is hosted by Hamilton Foundation for Student Success (HFSS), displays student talent in all shapes in forms. HFSS organizes events and initiatives just like this one to achieve its sole mandate of supporting HWDSB students so they can thrive and reach their full potential. HWDSB students will directly benefit from tickets purchased through Student Support Grants, which provide financial assistance so that they can come to school and stay in school.

With event just days away, there are some key dates fast approaching:

  • Monday, March 28 – Student talent lineup released
  • Thursday, March 31 – Deadline to purchase dinner/gift kit tickets
  • Friday, April 1 – Bidding for Silent Auction opens
  • Thursday, April 7 – Showcase of heARTS 2022 event day (dinner/gift kit pickups, student performances, Silent Auction closes)

The full Showcase of heARTS talent lineup can be viewed below and there are many students and staff members who deserve to be recognized! Readers should find some familiar names from elementary schools like Ridgemount, Norwood Park, Frank Panabaker, and more. There are also plenty of secondary school performances thanks to artists from Glendale, Sherwood, Bernie Custis, and more. Below the student talent are the names of the many dedicated staff members and volunteers who have helped bring the evening to life.

To the students and staff members who helped with gift kit items like the charcuterie boards, coasters, and clay tiles, your efforts are appreciated. HWDSB looks forward to celebrating our talented young artists at next week’s event.
