Continuing Education HWDSB is pleased to open registration for our IN PERSON Credit International Languages Programs.

Semester 1 Credit Mandarin courses will be held at the Hill Park Learning Centre, 465 East 16th Street on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  Courses start on October 4th. Registration is closed.

Full Year Credit Assyrian courses will be held at the Hill Park Learning Centre, 465 East 16th Street on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (Level 3/LYSCU1) Courses start on October 4th, Level 4/LYSDU1 have been moved to Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. starting October 19.  Registration is closed.

Full Year Credit German and Korean courses will be held at Ray Lewis Elementary School, 27 Jessica Street on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Courses start on October 15th. On-Line Registration is open until NOON on October 21st – no on-site registration!

Full Year and Semester 1 Credit International Languages Program

Full Year Credit International Languages – SATURDAY Program at Ray Lewis Elementary School
Location: Ray Lewis Elementary School
Languages Offered: German and Korean (Greek cancelled)
Start Date: October 15, 2022
Full Disclosure: Grade 11/12 courses only – February 25, 2023
Final day to submit course work: June 10, 2023
End Date: June 17, 2023

Full Year Credit International Languages – TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY Program 
Location: Hill Park Learning Centre
Languages Offered: Assyrian
Start Date:  October 4, 2022
Full Disclosure: Grade 11/12 courses only – January 31, 2023
Final day to submit course work: April 25, 2023
Final day: May 2, 2023

Semester 1 Credit International Languages Program – TUESDAY AND THURSDAY Program – closed to enrolment
Location: Hill Park Learning Centre
Languages Offered: Mandarin (Arabic cancelled)
Start Date:  October 4, 2022
Full Disclosure: Grade 11/12 courses only – November 22, 2022
Final day to submit course work: January 10, 2023
Final day: January 12, 2023

How to Register - HWDSB Students including Adults currently active in Continuing Education Credit Programs

Registration has closed for Assyrian and Mandarin.

If you have any questions or concerns about your course selection, prerequisites or pathway, please contact your Guidance Counsellor.  Once your registration has been submitted, you’ll receive a copy of your responses. Your Guidance Counsellor will review and validate your course selection – if they have any concerns they will update contact you and update your course selection.

Secondary School Students from outside HWDSB and NEW Adult Learners will need to:

Step #1 – Complete the Student Registration Process

NOTE – if you have taken a course through HWDSB Continuing Education since June 2020, please ask to be reactivated: PLANNING TO COME BACK

Step #2 – Once you have been registered/reactivated as a student you will be notified, you will then need to complete the REGISTER FOR GERMAN OR KOREAN form

FOR NON-HWDSB Secondary School students – once the form is submitted, an approval request will be forwarded to your Guidance Counsellor.

Deadline for registration for German and Korean is October 21, 2022 at NOON

Additional Program Information

  • Teachers will assess student language levels during the first/second class session and will place students into the correct course based on language level (see levels below)
  • Course levels for Credit International Languages:
    • Course codes ending in “BO/BO1” = Level 1 – for students starting to learn the International Languages as a Second Language
    • Course codes ending in “BD/BD1” = Level 2
    • Course codes ending in “CU/CU1” = Level 3 (Subject to Full Disclosure)
    • Course codes ending in “DU/DU1” = Level 4 (Subject to Full Disclosure)
  • Courses will be taught In-Person
  • Students are responsible for their own transportation
  • Students missing 3 or more classes may not be eligible to continue in the course
