Welcome to Saltfleet!

Principal’s Message

Hello Saltfleet Community,

Go Storm Go!  Welcome back to another fantastic year at Saltfleet District High School! My name is Kevin Graham and I am proud to be your Principal at Saltfleet District High School.  I hope that you have taken the time to relax, unwind and spend time with family and friends during the summer – you certainly deserve it!

I am very fortunate to be working alongside two amazing Vice Principals – Mr. Barr and (new to us) Ms. Sgambato.  We know that your success – helping you stay on track with credit accumulation – is directly connected to you becoming a high school graduate.  Working with our amazing staff, we all want you to graduate and have many opportunities!

This summer was a time of change for Saltfleet!  The school was deemed a construction zone as crews worked to replace over 100 heat pumps throughout the school.  This will be a welcome addition as temperatures will now be consistent throughout the year from room to room!  Crews were also busy finishing off the addition and renovating rooms B255 and B257 for our eventual Graduated Support Program set to begin in September 2016.

Please make note that picture day is on September 16.  This is also where you’ll receive your student card.

The environment we learn in is very important to all of us.  It is important for all students to feel safe and welcomed.  If you come across any issues, please make sure we are made aware so that you are given the best possible chances to succeed in school.  Throughout the year I would like to be challenged with new information and situations in order to push you, our students, and continue to showcase to the community and Board what a great place Saltfleet is!

Please know that I strive to continue to state how Saltfleet is an amazing place to be and hope that you will also jump on board to do so as well.  On behalf of Ms. Sgambato and Mr. Barr, we wish you a fantastic start to the school year.  The passion and pride we see within all of you is very infectious.  Please let us know how we can support you and your endeavours.  I look forward to seeing everyone again and hope to be able to help make Saltfleet the showcase secondary school that it is.

On December 18 the Ministry of Education communicated their expectations regarding Regulation 364/15 which directs district school boards to amend their 2015-16 school year calendar to include an additional Professional Activity Day. Through the leadership of Superintendent Jeff Gillies and the support of the school year calendar advisory committee, Executive Council has approved Friday April 15, 2016 as an additional PA Day for the 2015-16 calendar year.
