Wanted: Future project leads! McMaster Start Coding (http://outreach.mcmaster.ca) is looking for high-school aged future team leaders for a leadership development and Design Thinking program this fall and winter. Over 4 Saturdays this summer, you will receive free (virtual) training in Design Thinking and web app coding and will help envision the monthly program for the fall and winter.

 

Schedule overview (each session is 10am-3pm EDT on Zoom)

·         June 26th: Design Thinking exercise

·         July 10th: Design Thinking iteration and introduction to coding

·         July 24th: Continue iterating and coding

·         August 7th: Final touches and presentations

 

About the Vaccine Confidence Team: The Vaccine Confidence program will teach Design Thinking to identify bottlenecks and information gaps in Ontario communities which are holding us back from maximizing vaccination rates to stop the pandemic dead in its tracks. The initial summer program will help students gain confidence in leadership, Design Thinking and coding so they can lead project teams, including multi-lingual teams.

 

Students will receive a certificate for completing the summer program. In the fall/winter program, all participants will receive volunteer hours and team leads will receive letters of recommendation.
