Current Grade 8 Students from HWDSB Attending Ancaster Meadows, Frank Panabaker, Mount Hope, Spring Valley, or Tiffany Hills (Grade 9 in September 2022)

Please read below if your student currently attends Ancaster Meadows, Frank Panabaker, Mount Hope, Frank Panabker, Spring Valley, or Tiffany Hills:

How to Choose Grade 9 Courses for September 2022

  1. Download the official Grade 9 Option Sheet here.
  2. Watch the 24-minute Grade 9 Option Sheet Video here. This video contains a live demonstration on how to access and use Xello. A .pdf of the slides is available here..
  3. Download a help guide on how to use Xello here.
  4. Plan your 8 courses on the option sheet from Step 1 then keep it in a safe place.
  5. Join us for Grade 9 Option Selection virtual Q & A on February 9 at 6 p.m. No registration required. Click here to join!
  6. On February 8, log into Xello through The Hub and transfer the courses from your option sheet (See Step 1 for option sheet) into Xello. Your Grade 8 teacher will remind you it’s time to do this.
  7. The deadline for courses to be uploaded to Xello is March 4, 2022 at 3:00 p.m.
  8. Check Parent Portal from March 11 – March 25 to make sure your course choices have been accurately received by Ancaster High School. Please approve these choices if correct or contact Ancaster High School if a change is needed.

Current Grade 8 Students from HWDSB (Out-of-Catchment)

  1. Ancaster High School is OPEN to out-of-catchment applications for the 2022-2023 school year!
  2. Please download the out-of-catchment application and e-mail it to ancasterhigh@hwdsb.on.ca by March 4, 2022. Families will receive responses by March 11, 2022.
  3. Once approved, make sure the office administrator of your current HWDSB elementary school pre-transitions you to Ancaster High School. This means changing the Next-School-Indicator (NSI) from the local secondary school to Ancaster High
  4. Follow steps 1-8 from the section above! Xello will reflect Ancaster High School course offerings once you have been pre-transitioned to Acnaster High

Non-HWDSB Families Living In-Catchment

Welcome to the HWDSB! Thank you for choosing Ancaster High School. Please follow the instructions below to register your student and choose Grade 9 courses.

  1. Download the registration form or use the electronic registration process. This is still being prepared for the 2022-2023 school year. Please keep checking here
  2. Download the official Grade 9 Option sheet for non-HWDSB families
  3. Follow the instructions on the Grade 9 Option sheet (e-mail to kmoon@hwdsb.on.ca)

Non-HWDSB Families Living Out-of-Catchment

  1. Ancaster High School is OPEN to out-of-catchment applications for the 2022-2023 school year!
  2. Please download the out-of-catchment application and e-mail it to ancasterhigh@hwdsb.on.ca by March 4, 2022. Families will receive responses by March 11, 2022.
  3. Download the official Grade 9 Option sheet for non-HWDSB families

*SUMMER SCHOOL REACH-AHEAD PROGRAM DETAILS ARE AVAILABLE IN MAY 2022*

Please contact your grade 8 teacher, principal, or Continuing Education with questions about the Grade 8 reach-ahead program starting in May 2022. Summer programs for Grade 8 students moving to Grade 9 in September will not affect your grade 9 courses are Ancaster High School.


Grade 9 Orientation Program

Continuing Education, in partnership with HWDSB’s Secondary Schools, is pleased to offer a brand new Grade 9 Orientation Program for all current Grade 8 students at the HWDSB Secondary School they’ll attend in the fall.  REGISTER ONLINE FOR THIS EVENT!

This program runs in August at Ancaster High (dates TBD) and offers students:

  • valuable learning strategies and organizational skills
  • literacy and Math reviews
  • an opportunity to meet new friends and classmates
  • a chance to familiarize themselves with their new school.
