Letter – Ancaster Duathlon 2022

May 11, 2022

Dear Dared-to-Tri participants and supporters,

We are very excited that the Dared-to-Tri Duathlon will go ahead in its 21st year on Friday, May 27, 2022. We are thrilled that it will feature the new track installed at Ancaster High, a cycling component on closed roads, and the traditional running leg on the area’s beautiful trails.

Following the pandemic’s pause to events like this, staff at schools and the Board have been carefully reviewing the risk management and insurance requirements of all new and resumed activities. The legacy of COVID has also created unique challenges, such as staff supervision, which must be considered in all event plans.

Cycling is a higher risk activity, so we will continue to exercise caution at the event with road closures, first aid support and other traditional measures.

You may have received a message about the need to cancel this year’s event, but we wish to clarify this: the event will go ahead.

We believe that the event’s 20-year history will help ensure a safe environment for participants. We know that the community loves this event and is excited to see it go ahead.

We appreciate the incredible efforts of the students and staff in the AHS Leadership Class PLF4M1 who organize and run this event that positively contributes to our communities.

Sincerely,

Beth Woof
Principal, Ancaster High School
