Westdale teacher Diana Panton among Hamilton Women of Distinction celebrated

The YWCA Hamilton Women of Distinction Awards were given out Thursday, March 9 at the Hamilton Convention Centre. This is the 41st year of the annual awards. The 2017 winner in the Arts, Culture, Design category was Westdale Secondary School art and drama teacher Diana Panton. Panton is a Juno Award-winning singer and recording artist and a drama and visual arts teacher who lends her voice to support numerous local events and worthy causes. She performs all over the world and was recently named one of Canada’s top five female jazz singers by CBC Radio.

Watch: Class Soup Fest Exceeds Expectations
Ms. Kondo's class at Adelaide Hoodless organized a Soup Fest event to raise funds to help a special needs classmate. The $2300 raised will allow their friend Lawson to attend a summer camp without his parents for the first time.
