Tragic losses in our school community

Dear families,

It is with deep sadness that we are sharing the news of the tragic, but unrelated, deaths of Qais Mohammed and Joshua James Morris-Ducharme. We believe it is important that you know about the deep sense of loss that our school community is experiencing.

Qais was well liked by many in the Glendale English as a Second Language (ESL) program and the wider school community. He finished his time at Glendale last semester.

Joshua was a graduate of Glen Echo and Glen Brae elementary schools and was to attend Glendale secondary this year.

We extend our heartfelt sympathy to both of their families during this difficult time. We all share in the grief and sadness of having lost respected and loved students.

As a sign of respect, we will lower our school flag for three days.

Although most students are not yet at school, many will know about these losses. Supporting children during this time will greatly assist their ability to deal with this situation.

If you feel that your child could benefit from support, HWDSB social workers are available. Please speak with staff if this would be helpful.

Sincerely,

Staff at Glendale Secondary School
