Zone 1 Championship Swim Meet 2017-18

Background: The Zone 1 swim meet is the qualifying event for SOSSA. SOSSA will be held Thursday, February 8 by Lakeshore Catholic (location TBA). Past practice is the top 4 finishers in each event qualify for SOSSA.
To qualify for OFSAA, (February 27-28 in Windsor) a swimmer must either finish 1st in their event or meet the OFSAA time standard at SOSSA. OFSAA time standards are available online at:

There is no Open 400 Free relay at Zones, but any school that would like to enter an OPEN relay in this event should provide me with their entry time for SOSSA.
Points: Points at Zones will be as follows (double for relays):

Entries:
- Swimmers may enter up to 4 events. Swimmer may swim in a maximum of 2 individual events
- A school may enter up to 3 swimmers in each individual event and up to 2 relay teams per event. There is no cap per school for 50 Free.
- A junior swimmer may swim in a senior event, but not both junior and senior of the same event.
- Entry grids must be submitted by 3:00 pm TBA to Diane Baker at [email protected]. You will be asked to verify entries via heat sheets that will be sent prior to the meet. No changes will be permitted to entries at the meet.
IMPORTANT: Swimmers are limited to a maximum of three (3) events at SOSSA with a maximum of two individual events. If necessary, swimmers will be asked to indicate their scratch preference after Zone results are posted. This will allow the maximum number of swimmers to compete at SOSSA.
Rules: All FINA rules apply. Starts will follow the no false start rule. Swimmers will be DQ’d at the end of the event.
Volunteers: Each school will be required to bring 4 timers and stopwatches for timing purposes. Parent officials are also welcome.
Events: The events are listed in the entry grid attached. The event order will follow the order on the entry grid. OPEN swimmers will swim in the same heats as Senior swimmers where possible. Please indicate OPEN next to the swimmers’ name where applicable.
Note: If a swimmer hopes to swim an event at OFSAA, they must swim that event at SOSSA. To swim in an event at SOSSA the swimmer must have swum that event and placed at Zones.
