HWDSB Celebrates 2025 Senior Athletes of the Year with Special Guest Simoni Lawrence

June 25, 2025 — The HWDSB Student Engagement – Athletics team proudly celebrated the outstanding achievements of this year’s Senior Athletes of the Year from all 13 HWDSB secondary schools, along with our three Associate Member schools. These exceptional student-athletes were recognized not only for their athletic excellence but also for their leadership and positive impact within their school communities.

The event was a vibrant celebration of dedication, teamwork, and school spirit. Each athlete honoured has demonstrated what it means to lead both on and off the field, setting an inspiring example for their peers.

Adding to the excitement, Simoni Lawrence, a standout figure from the Hamilton Sports Group and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, joined as a special guest speaker. Lawrence shared powerful insights about the love of sport and the importance of carrying forward the skills developed through athletics—such as resilience, determination, and leadership—into the next chapter of life.

His message resonated deeply with the students, encouraging them to embrace the journey ahead with confidence and purpose.
