Elementary Checkers 55th Anniversary

The HWDSB Checkers Tournament celebrated its 55th anniversary this year! Over 750 students participated in this annual event at the Ancaster Fairgrounds on March 6th, 2024.   Students from grade 3-8 came together and competed in what is thought to be the largest Checkers tournament in the World. The founder of this event, Ken Shoesmith, still volunteers and helps with the event continuing to build its legacy.
