Running away with OFSAA Gold

Far and away, the performance of the Novice boys team at OFSAA 2023-24 Cross Country from Dundas Valley SS was brilliant, literally running away from the field with possibly the largest margin of victory in OFSAA history.  Owen Craddock (4th), Jackson Ortwein (7th), Jakob Peshko (15th), Fynn Gibson(35th) and Noah Weingartner(74th) lapped the field.

In the Novice Girls race, HWIAC was led by Amelia Bagnell of Ancaster, followed by Isla Mason of Dundas Valley .  The Gryphons also represented the city in the team competition. The top runners in the para race was Liam Curtis of Dundas Valley and Lily Hudgins of Westdale. Moving up to the Junior Girls, a large number of local athletes finished in the top 40.  This  Abiella Pribyl of Westdale, Hannah Lanting of Guido de Bres, Melisa Kekic of Saltfleet and Julia Gupta of Dundas Valley.  The junior boys race saw Shakir Saleh of Bernie Custis finish 25th.  A pair of local Athletes raced well in the Senior Girls event.  Vanessa Giannou of Ancaster was 17th, and her teammate Erika Gordon of was 38th. The team from Westdale also represented the city. Finishing off the day was an 11th place finish by Iain Thomson of Dundas Valley in the Senior Boys field followed by his teammate Cohen Ledger in 54th. They also led the DVSS team to an 11th place finish.

In all 41 athletes represented Hamilton – well done all!!
