Water Polo: Westdale continues legacy in the pool
The Westdale Warriors dynasty in HWIAC water polo continues as the Warriors earned both the senior and junior boys championship titles in 2019-20.
For the senior boys, the Warriors defeated Orchard Park 8-2 back on December 19, 2019 to earn their second straight senior title. Westdale has now collected five of the last seven senior boys championship titles. The Warriors amassed an 8-0 regular season record and rolled to a perfect record defeating Bernie Custis, Ancaster and Orchard Park in the playoffs.
The Warriors junior boys squad was equally strong, finishing with a 4-0 record and then topping Orchard Park in the semifinals followed by a victory over Sherwood in the final to capture their fifth straight title. During the championship event, underdog and No. 4 ranked Orchard Park was able to secure the bronze medal against No. 2 Ancaster in a 5-4 overtime thriller.
