Featured Athlete of the Week – Mike Dama – Sherwood

Mike Dama, a grade 10 student, is Sherwood’s feature athleted of the week.  Mike, in his grade 10 year, has already played on many teams including  volleyball (junior and co-ed), waterpolo (junior), badminton, ice hockey (junior and senior), pickleball, tennis, junior boys’ football and Sherwood’s newly developed lacrosse team.  Mike is a great athlete who really likes to take a chance and try many activities.  He does really well at some and not so well at others but always gives 110%.   Mike is a responsible and committed member of any team and/ or committee.  He is a great leader and great teammate always looking out for the team’s best interest over individual accolades.   Because of his many varied activities that Mike participates in he has developed a great supportive rapport with all the athletes and coaches at Sherwood.   On top of his busy athletic schedule Mike finds time to help run and organize athletic events as part of the Student Athletic Council, along with being a member of Sherwood’s Ambassadors who help run transition activities for elementary students coming to high school.  Rep band is also a part of Mike’s life showing a strong diversity for many different activities.  Wow, you would say Mike is one busy guy, but hang on… Mike also helps coach an under-10 Mount Hamilton soccer team and volunteers to do yardwork for his grandparents and neighbours.   Mike also maintains consistent marks of 85% and above in all his courses.  We at Sherwood are very lucky to have an athlete like Mike to role model for our younger athletes.   We are very proud of Mike’s accomplishments and look forward to seeing what he will accomplish over his last two years at Sherwood.
