Five HWDSB coaches nominated for 13th Annual Wismer Award

The Wismer Foundation and the Wismer Award for High School Coaching Excellence Selection Committee are delighted to announce this year’s nominees for the Award.  All are top notch teachers, and coaches who have made significant contributions to the Hamilton high school coaching scene and the community.

Nominees for the 13th Annual Wismer Award for High School Coaching Excellence are:

HWDSB Nominees–

• Lu Angel- Ancaster; rowing, volleyball, fastball, touch football, field hockey, waterpolo
• Michael Schurer– Ancaster; basketball, volleyball, soccer
• Annette Tonogai- Westdale; volleyball, waterpolo, tennis, badminton
• Dave Walters- Westdale; football, powerlifting, waterpolo
• John Warrick– Waterdown; basketball, track, football, badminton

HWCDSB Nominees-

• Ken Chesla-St Thomas More; hockey
• John DiBenedetto– Bishop Ryan; cross country, wrestling
• Michael DiClaudio-Cathedral; basketball, soccer
• Stefano Giovannangeli-St Thomas More; basketball, football, volleyball
• Dianne Lussier- Bishop Ryan; field hockey, basketball, hockey, track,soccer, swimming,curling

The 13th Annual Wismer Award for High School Coaching Excellence will be presented to two coaches this year- one coach from the HWCDSB and one coach from the HWDSB… at the Wismer Foundation Golf Tournament and Award Presentation Dinner on Tuesday, May 31st at Carlisle Golf and Country Club. A few openings remain for both the Golf Tournament and Award Dinner tickets. The Award was established in memory of John Wismer who was a respected, passionate educator/coach with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board for thirty three years.
