WISMER AWARD: Nominate an HWDSB coach today
(April 8, 2016) – The Wismer Foundation is seeking nominations for the 13th Annual Wismer Award for High Schooling Coaching Excellence. With so many talented and dedicated coaches in the Hamilton area, the foundation is hoping to get a great response for this year’s award.
The Wismer Award for High School Coaching Excellence was established in 2004 in co-operation with Hamilton- Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) and Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board (HWCDSB). This award recognizes coaches who make significant contributions to the growth and continuing development of students and athletes.
This year, the Wismer Foundation is pleased to announce that two recipients will be recognized – one from HWDSB and one from HWCDSB. The winning coaches and his/her school will receive a monetary award to be used towards the purchase of athletic equipment. The presentation will be made at the Wismer golf tournament dinner on May 31, 2016.
If you know a coach that best exemplifies the attributes of John Wismer – someone who is a mentor, coach and friend, then we want to hear from you! John was a talented, innovative and spirited teacher and coach, who for more than thirty-three years inspired student athletes to do their very best in all facets of life. This award gives the community an opportunity to honour the talented, inspiring, and dedicated coaches whose efforts sometimes go unnoticed as well as enhancing the status of high school coaching in Hamilton.
