Featured Athlete of the Week – Alexis Skirrow – Saltfleet

Alexis Skirrow is a very busy student at Saltfleet!    She is a diligent student achieving high standards academically.  Her success also follows her outside the classroom where she is a very active athlete playing many sports – cross country, basketball, indoor and outdoor soccer, water polo, and badminton.  Alexis also proudly represented our school at OFSAA for field hockey and competed in the javelin event for track and field.

She has been our grade nine and junior athlete of the year, with many most valuable player awards in her respective sports due to her trIMG_0803emendous work ethic and team building skills.

Outside of school she plays rep basketball for Blessed Sacrament and rep soccer for Stoney Creek.  She is also able to squeeze in work – she was a camp counsellor at the Gagnon Baker Camp, worked in the summer for HWDSB Camp Power and is also a soccer referee for Stoney Creek soccer.

With all her academic and athletic achievements – she still makes time to volunteer.

  • She is the go to student to score keep the basketball games at Saltfleet
  • She is a storm link leader helping grade nines make a successful transition to high school
  • Coached the grade nine girls’ soccer team
  • Wraps Christmas gifts for city kids
  • Helps out with our clothing ‘spirit wear’ during her lunch

“I don’t know when she has the time to eat and sleep! Alexis Skirrow is truly deserving of this great award.” remarked her coach.
