Feature Athlete of the Week: Sean Holmes (Ancaster HS)

Sean Holmes - Ancaster High School

Sean Holmes

Sean Holmes – Ancaster High School

Sean is a 17 year old, grade 12 student at Ancaster High who maintains 90 percent grade average. During his four year tenure at Ancaster High he has been a member of the Track and Field Team (High Jump) , Basketball Team, Volleyball Team and is an active member of the Boys’ Athletic Association (BAA).

Sean is a quiet, unassuming individual student at Ancaster High. However, that disposition changes when he’s on the Volleyball and Basketball courts. His coaches describe him as an intense, tenacious, creative and intelligent athlete. Sean’s Volleyball coach describes him as a “Floor General” who controls and runs all aspects of the offensive attack. His quickness, precision passing, ability to read the offensive and defensive systems and “never die” attitude on defense make Sean a standout.

Sean just finished his third year on the Senior Volleyball team, of which he was the captain. In addition to this he was selected to the HWDSB All-Star Team.

Sean is now entering his fourth year as a member of Ancaster High’s Basketball program. In Junior Basketball, Sean was awarded the Team MVP. Sean was also selected to the HWIAC All-Star team in grades 9, 10 and 11.

In the community, Sean presently plays for the Burlington “Motion” Basketball Club. Prior to this he was a long-time member of the Blessed Sacrament Basketball program here in Hamilton.

Ancaster High is blessed to have a student/athlete like Sean as a member of our student body.

Each week Athletics features a “Feature Athlete of the Week” randomly chosen from one of our secondary schools competing in HWIAC play.  Watch for this feature every Wednesday!
