Dundas Valley junior boys cross country soars at OFSAA

The Dundas Valley Junior Boys Cross country team capped off a brilliant season with a silver medal performance at the Ontario High School Championships. Altogether, six teams and seven individuals from Hamilton toed the line for the OFSAA Meet in Duntroon on Saturday, Nov.7.

The Gryphons team of Alec Purnell, Ian Klassen, Eric Justason, Doug Keen and Carter Knox excelled on the gruelling course of hills and mud of the Highlands Nordic centre. Three first three runners were all in the top 60, and all five had finish line sprints to edge the third place team by two points. It represents the first OFSAA XC team medal for Dundas Valley and the ninth for the Steel City in the past 10 years.

MG- Maddie Rule Westmount and Dundas Valley (19th)
MB- Ethan Rostaert/Smith Dundas Valley and Ancaster (14th)
JG- Brittany Johnstone Ancaster and Ancaster (12th)
JB- Alec Purnell Dundas Valley and Dundas Valley (2nd)
SG- Emma Waddington Westdale and Westdale (12th)
SB- Ian Mackinnon Westdale and Westdale (20th)
